Blind charity gets new Iris system

Published: Aug 2009

A charity for the blind and partially-sighted has gone live with a new CRM system. Guide Dogs has implemented a 150-user Iris Care system from Iris NFP Solutions after a nearly year-long project from tender to going live. According to Guide Dogs, the solution matches its requirements document by 86 per cent.

One of the key requirements for the solution was the ability to be accessible to blind and partially-sighted users within the charity. Iris developed an embedded screen-reading application which will now be made available to other charity clients. A single view of supporters was also created as part of the project.

Jayne George, project sponsor and director of fundraising at Guide Dogs, says: "We're committed to expanding our services for blind and partially-sighted people, and in turn, we need to increase our fundraising over the next  five years . The Iris Care system is going to be our platform for this."

She adds: "We're confident the cost/benefits will be realised within six months when we calculate the system will have paid for itself through increased income and reduced expenditure. We are planning to build even closer relationships with supporters and reach new audiences. We already have around 1.5 million contacts on our system."
